A gully is a passage cut into a rock face, a receptacle for snow and meltwater that freezes in winter. Some areas remain dry, in rock.
Climbing a goulotte is a mixed ascent: in snow, on ice and on rock! With ice axes and technical crampons, you can climb any gully, whatever the material at the bottom!
This gully can be reached after climbing an ice waterfall (such as the one at La Daille or Le Mône). The rocky passages, although short, are a good introduction to rock climbing with crampons. All the icy sections are no more difficult than the introductory waterfalls presented here.
The atmosphere in the chute is breathtaking!
